JACQUELINE LAMBERT
Jacqueline Lambert
FacebookJacqueline (Jackie) Lambert is an award-winning travel writer, adventure traveller, and dogmother. B.C. (Before Canines) she hurtled, slid, submerged beneath, and threw herself off bits of every continent except Antarctica. A.D. (After Dog), she quit work to become a full-time nomad. Initially, as an Adventure Caravanner, she aimed To Boldly Go Where No Van Has Gone Before – with a husband (Mark) and four dogs. This included towing across two cornfields, along a footpath, and letting Caravan 'Kismet' ('Fate') join the Mile High Club when they crossed the Carpathian Mountains on one of the world's most dangerous roads. Since 2021, she has been at large in The Beast, a 24.5-tonne army lorry she and Mark bought blind off the internet to convert into an off-grid home-on-wheels fit for a trip to Mongolia. Her memoirs about life on the road have been described as 'Inspirational', 'Laugh out loud funny', and 'Armchair travel delight'. While chronological, each book is a standalone tale.

More Manchester Than Mongolia: An Unexpected Road Trip Through Back Road Britain (The Wayward Truck Book 2)
by Jacqueline Lambert
The Comic Memoir of a Grand Plan Gone Wrong
“I haven’t laughed so much at the written word since Pam Ayres released Some of Me Poetry in 1976!” — Drew Johnson, author of the Andalucian Adventures series
When Jackie and Mark bought The Beast, a vintage, six-wheel army lorry sight unseen off the internet, they planned the ultimate overland adventure to Mongolia with their four dogs. But when COVID-19 slammed shut international borders – it abruptly rerouted their dream.
Stranded in the U.K., they tackle life on the road in a home-built truck camper laughably over-engineered for the quaint English countryside. What follows is a laugh-out-loud British road trip, filled with mishaps, mechanical mayhem – and the hidden marvels of their homeland.
Blending travel tales with dogs, wit, and heart, More Manchester than Mongolia is a celebration of embracing life when it doesn’t go to plan. Perfect for fans of Bill Bryson, Tony Hawks, and Mark Wallington, this is a funny, feel-good memoir of resilience, rediscovery, and finding that sometimes, the best adventures are the ones we never intended to take.

Dogs n Dracula: A Road Trip Through Romania (Adventure Caravanning with Dogs Book 3)
by Jacqueline Lambert
Chill With A Book PREMIER Readers’ Award September 2022
Romania Insider Awards Finalist*
Ever considered giving up work to escape into the wide, blue yonder?
Jackie and Mark Lambert did just that. They rented out their house and took off in a caravan with their four dogs. With windsurf boards strapped to their roof, they struck south for Spain and Portugal, but decided to turn left…
According to The Spectator, Romania is “Europe’s most overlooked holiday destination”.
According to everyone else, it was somewhere where they would be robbed, scammed, kidnapped by gypsies, eaten by bears or attacked by wild dogs and wolves – if they managed to avoid the floods and riots.
This is the story of how they towed their caravan through the largest untouched wilderness in Europe, crossing the Carpathian Mountains via one of the world’s most dangerous roads, guided by a satnav haunted by a revenge complex more pathological than Vlad the Impaler’s.
With a good few surprises on the way, Dogs ‘n’ Dracula is a tale of adventure, packed with history, humour and the exploration of lesser-known parts of one of Europe’s more obscure destinations.
Join our Adventure Caravaners as they really do ‘Boldly Go Where No Van Has Gone Before!’
*Chill With A Book PREMIER Readers’ Award; 4th September 2022

• Inspirational and hilarious – I am completely hooked on Jackie’s tales… I had never thought about taking a caravan to Romania but we are eagerly planning our trip.
• Another great read – This is a fantastic, fabulously written series, 100% recommended.
• Romania is now very much in my sights – Brilliantly evokes the highs and lows of camping across Europe, whilst painting pictures of places unknown in such a vivid palette that they immediately become ‘must visit’ destinations.
• Another lovely tail – Once again, once started, difficult to put down.

Pups on Piste: A Ski Season In Italy
by Jacqueline Lambert
“Highly recommended for dog lovers, ski enthusiasts & adventurous travellers!”
Jackie and Mark share a passion for planks. When they married, just thirty-seven weeks after they first met, their ambition was to spend a full season in the Alps.
Pups on Piste is the true story of their first three months in Monte Rosa with their four Cavapoos (Cavalier / Poodle cross) Kai, Rosie, Ruby, and Lani. A little-known resort tucked under the second highest peak in Western Europe, Monte Rosa is celebrated as one of the world’s top freeride destinations.
Once there, they get lost, stranded, conduct experiments on the edge of control and take a back-country ski course in which one instructor’s advice is, “Don’t miss the turn or you’ll go over a cliff.”
Join them in legendary powder, where you will learn a multitude of invaluable lessons about skiing, winter walkies, the revenge of the snow chains, surviving a Viking invasion and how to remove snow balls from the belly of a dog. You can also follow the author’s own skiing journey: from tearful struggles on the nursery slopes to fully-fledged off-piste powder chick.
Whether you're a seasoned skier, a dog lover, or an armchair adventurer, this memoir is an exhilarating ride through alpine highs, powdery lows, and everything in between.
